The Urban
Pooch is owned and operated by Cathy Scott. Cathy resides in San Jose
with her husband Troy and her “pack” of dogs, RJ a 6 year old Chocolate
Labrador who has his CGC and is also a certified Pet Assistance Therapy
Dog with Petpals Animal Assisted
Therapy Group; Gunner, a 4 year old Labrador/Catahoula mix who is also
a certified Petpals Animal Assisted
Therapy dog; Gordon, an 18 month old Shepherd/Kelpie mix who is just
moving on to advanced obedience; and Stormy our “retired” girl, an 11 year
old Labrador/Catahoula mix.
Cathy showed horses professionally from 1978 until 1986 competing in a
variety of Equestrian events and owning several hunter/jumpers. She
graduated from San Jose State in 1991 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Business
Administration and went to work in Silicon Valley in the Semiconductor
Industry. Dogs and horses were always a part time passion until 2003 when
Cathy joined Society Dog as the Events Manager.
Society Dog is a social club for
dogs and their people. They sponsor many Bay Area events for dog lovers
and contribute proceeds from these events to local rescue groups and
shelters.
When
Cathy was laid off from her corporate job due to downsizing, she started
The Urban Pooch and took her part time passion and love of animals to a
full time career catering to the pets and people of Silicon Valley. The
Urban Pooch offers a complete concierge of pet services and provides the
client with an individual pet care provider that they can trust and rely
on. We look forward to providing you and your pets with excellent
service.

Testimonials:
Dear Cathy, In the months we have known you, you have enriched all our lives.
Roger and I were very please with the care you gave Sampson while we
were on vacation to New England over the Christmas 2005 Holiday.
Words cannot express our thankfulness for the 2 weeks you cared for
Sampson. We feel you went above and beyond our pet care needs. We
were so happy with not having to leave Sampson in a kennel. The home
care he received was excellent and all his needs were met. I am
sure that whomever uses your service will be more than happy with the
results. Please feel free to give our name and contact information
to any of your future clients. Sincerely,
Pat and Roger Fisher and "AKA Atta Boy Sampson" (95 Pound Bouvier Des Flaunders)
"We have very
much enjoyed having Cathy Scott work with our dog, Millie. She always
leaves a brief note letting us know how the walks go, and she has been
very trustworthy and dependable. I appreciate the advance notice
that she gives before going on vacation, and she is very flexable in
scheduling Millie for walks. Cathy is always a phone call or email away,
and Millie loves her! It's so nice to
know that Millie doesn't have to spend the entire day without human
contact."

Cathy Scott, owner of the Urban Pooch, after searching countless dog
sitters/walkers, was finally someone I could count on to be with my lab
puppies. She knows dogs and their behavior, can adapt to any situation
(like when my pups discovered the garage and ate tarps, putty, caulking,
etc!) and is very flexible with scheduling. She communicates really well
with me on any issues with my dogs, such as changes in their physical
appearance or behavior problems. I trust in her completely and that's a
big deal since my pups are as close to kids as I'll ever get!!

Cathy Scott has provided us and our 9 month old Border Collie/Lab mix
puppy Lily, with excellent, professional care. Cathy is reliable
and conscientious when caring for our pets. She leaves a note at
every visit letting you know she was there and a little bit of
information about her interaction with your pet that day. What I
especially appreciate about Cathy is her experience with animals.
She knows dog behavior and training and doesn't allow you pet to get
away with misbehavior. With having a puppy, I have appreciated all
her advice as it has helped us resolve several dog issues.
Furthermore, she is willing to take the extra step to accommodate your
schedule. When doing an overnight or doggie day care, she will
pick up or drop your dog off at your home. Not many pet sitters
provide this service.
I hope Cathy has a long and successful career in animal care. She
is a great find.
